ACTIVITIES ON THE FARM

MOUNTAIN BIKING

One of the best ways to explore the farm is by mountain bike. The farm and surrounding area offers excellent mountain biking terrain. There are various trails with dirt road, jeep track, single track and technical sections to cater for all levels of expertise. The village has an active mountain biking club. Their program for the upcoming weekends is available from our office.

MOUNTAIN DRIVE

An early morning or late afternoon drive high into the mountain reserve is an extraordinary wildlife and beautifully scenic experience. The mountain road leads through the farm, up the mountain and into the fynbos reserve where numerous birds & wildlife roam freely. The drive ends at a breathtaking viewpoint over the Overberg. From here it is a short walk through the yellowwood forest with 60m high trees, up the stream to the waterfall. This trail is self-drive only and 4 x 4 vehicles are recommended.

BIRDING, FISHING, HIKING, 4X4 SELF DRIVE TRAILS

A list of the birds found on the farm is available from the guesthouse. Fish Eagles, Blue Cranes, Secretary Birds are often seen on the farm. The farm has 3 large dams which are stocked with black bass and guests are welcome to fish these dams on a catch and release basis. A swim in one of the dams, river or in the pool below the waterfall are the best way to cool down on a warm summers day. Inflatable canoes are also available.

The farm is perfect for strolls to see the animals as well as for the serious hiker looking for a challenge. Hiking trails to explore the higher parts of the mountain are also highly recommended for more experienced hikers.

There is a 4×4 vehicle trail that winds through the mountains and is vailable to our guests for a self drive adventure.
